(99-6)  FLIPPEN - SHELTON - GADMER:
Can anyone identify Matthew (Madison) Tinsley FLIPPEN who married Martha Elizabeth "Lizzie" SHELTON?  Lizzie SHELTON was born 15 Apr 1840 in MS to Henry Featherstone Shelton and his first wife Mary Elizabeth Williams and died 20 Feb 1922 in Sebastian Co., AR.  She married first to James M. YOUNG on 10 Jul 1857 in Rankin Co., MS and second to Matthew Tinsley FLIPPEN around 4 Jun 1866 [license] in Rankin Co., MS.  One record gave his name as Madison Tinsley FLIPPEN, but on other records and old family letters, he was always called Matthew T. FLIPPEN and he signed as "Matt."  Their children may have included:  (1) William FLIPPEN, born c1860 Rankin Co., MS; (2) Laura Anna FLIPPEN, married Arthur Frank GADMER; and (3) Mary FLIPPEN, born c1866 Rankin Co., MS).  Who was Matthew T. FLIPPEN?

(99-9)  FLIPPEN - MONTGOMERY:
Need to verify the ancestors of my great-grandfather.  My grandfather was Lon Saunders FLIPPEN (1888-1963).  I believe he was born in MS.  He had several brothers:  Walter Thomas (1911-1975), William (1892-1976) and John (1885-1968).  I believe all of them lived most of their lives in TX and all died here.  Their father was Henry Thomas FLIPPEN and their mother was Myrtice Decora MONTGOMERY.  Can you help me?
Donald Flippen -- [need current e-mail address]
[Note by Nova:  I found the families on 1910 and 1920 Ellis Co., TX censuses.  According to these censuses, T. H. and Myrtice had the following children:  John, Lon, Melton C., Susie, Dollie, Billie W. (son), Pearl M. and Walter T.  A step-son, Fred Clint HOLLIMAN / HOLLOMAN, was living with them and probably was Myrtice's son.  I believe Henry was married first to Elisabeth (1866-1899) who was buried as wife of T. H. FLIPPEN in Ellis Co. and that they had one known son, Grover C. (1892-1895), buried near Elisabeth.  T. H. was born 1856 and died 14 Dec 1919 in Dallas Co.  He is buried at Ferris Cemetery in Ferris, Ellis Co., TX where Myrtice is also buried.
So far I found only one possible Henry.  I found a Henry P., born c1856 in VA, as son of John Temple FLIPPEN and his first wife Susan on the Cumberland Co., VA census records.  After Susan's death, Henry lived with his paternal grandparents.  I suggested that a search be made for a marriage record of Henry Thomas or Thomas Henry FLIPPEN to a Elisabeth and also to Myrtice D. (MONTGOMERY) HOLLOMAN / HOLLIMAN in VA, MS and TX.  Ellis Co., TX early marriages do not show one for Henry to Myrtice.  Donald Flippen would appreciate any help.]
