Daniel FLIPPEN was born c1808 in VA and married Segnora ELAM who was born c1810 in VA to Essex and Lavinia (CROWDER) ELAM. They were on the 1850 East Baton Rouge Parish, LA census with three children: Frances (b. c1835 LA), Madison (c1840 LA) and William (c1843 LA). Widowed Senera [sic] was listed on the 1860 census of East Baton Rouge Parish with Cato (?) (b. c1837), Madison and William. Buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Baton Rouge, LA area are:

Mary A. FLIPPEN was born 20 Dec 1811 in VA and died 15 Feb 1887 in Coryell Co., TX. She married Drurry W. McCLINTON 16 May 1843 in Shelby Co., AL. He was born 19 Jun 1816 in SC and died 21 Jan 1888 in Coryell Co., TX. They both are buried at Post Oak Cemetery near Oglesby, TX. Their children were:

Armistead FLIPPIN may have been born around 1820 since his earliest known grandchild was born in 1863. He married Elizabeth Ann MORGAN. The only known child mentioned in my grandmother's records is John Thomas FLIPPIN.
John Thomas "Thomas / Tom" FLIPPIN married Martha Elizabeth PARKER. They both may have been born around 1840. Their children were:
1. Lessie FLIPPIN (1863 - 1954) married Mr. BORUM.
2. Bettie FLIPPIN (1867 - 1953) married Mr. WHITE.
3. John FLIPPIN (1868 - 1960)
4. Mattie FLIPPIN (1873 - 1965) married Mr. BROWNLEY.

All of this family are believed to be born in Mathews Co., VA. [NOTE by Nova Lemons: This family is probably related to the Thomas FLIPPEN of Gloucester Co., VA who married Dorothy BROOKES or to the Humphrey FLIPPEN of Gloucester Co. who married first to Sarah DAVIS and second to Mary KEYS. They lived in the area of Gloucester Co. that became Mathews Co.]

William Scott FLIPPIN, son of William Garr FLIPPIN, married Anna Minnie WILLIAMS, daughter of John D. and Henretta (PACE) WILLIAMS, on 28 Jun 1903 near Centertown, MO. William S. FLIPPIN was born 25 Feb 1880 in Camden Co., MO and Anna on 9 Feb 1882 in Cole Co., MO. She died 29 Aug 1948 in California, MO. They had three children:
1. John D. Gordon FLIPPIN (4 Apr 1904 - 27 Jun 1971) married Beulah Mae

Ed FLIPPEN was born 1860s to 1870s and probably married around 1884. His wife Jennie BROWN was born 12 Feb 1874 or Oct 1872 in AL or AR to John and Mary BROWN and died 6 Jan 1924 in Dallas, TX. She was buried at Oakland Cemetery in Dallas. She married second to Delbert BURGE in 1899 and third to Frank WHITE after 1910. Children of Ed and Jennie were:
