Nancy FLIPPEN was probably born around 1750 to 1764 and was said to be a doctor before her marriage. She married John HARRIS and they had three known children, order not certain.

Co., IA) married second to Elizabeth WHITSON / WITTEN(d. c1818-1820), third to Margaret McVEY (1801 TN - 6 Jun 1877 Apponnoose Co., IA), daughter of John and Rachel McVEY, on 8 Nov 1819 in Roane Co., TN. Santy research done by Lt. Col. Eugene S. Skinner back in the 1950s showed tht a Mr. FLIPPEN was married before early 1850 to Mary _____. He died before 24 May 1854, after they had two children, John A. (25 Dec 1850 TX - 1 Mar 1893) and Charles G. (c1854 TX). Mary remarried to William Augustine SANTY 24 May 1854 and died circa Dec 1855. The boys who took on the Santy surname lived with William's mother, Eliza SANTY. Eliza SANTE was appointed as guardian of J. A. PHLIPPIN [sic] and C. G. SANTE in May 1863. Later on 29 Oct 1867 D. H. FIELDS was appointed as guardian for John (over 14) and Charles (under 14) SANDY [sic], who were heirs of Augustine and Mary SANTY, deceased. Eliza SANTY had died circa May 1866. John A. (FLIPPIN) SANTY married Laura A. DAY (23 Nov 1844 - 26 Mar 1921) on 9 Jun 1870 in Grimes Co., TX.

Sallie; daughters Elizabeth PRICE, Susannah MOSS, Jane STOKES; sons Isham and Elijah, dec'd.
The will of Frances Strong, dated 28 Apr 1827 and probated 7 Jan 1828, named son Johnson, heirs of son Sherwood, heirs of son Isham, heirs of son William, heirs of son Elijah, heirs of son John, heirs of dau. Sally FLIPPEN, heirs of dau. Susan MOSS, dau. Elizabeth PRICE, and daughter Jane STOKES.p. 264 -- Sarah STRONG, b. c1762, married Jesse FLIPPEN but the will of her father has him as Joshua FLIPPEN. She was deceased by 1816. One son, William, per her father's will.

p. 230 - Victor Dole FLIPPIN (b. 2 Mar 1911 Grove City, OH), son of James Arthur and Nellie May (REHER) FIPPIN, married Mary Frances ROANE (b. 16 Jul 1912 Portsmouth, VA), daughter of Claude Alvin and Bessie Brooke (ADAMS) ROANE. According to Mrs. Davis, the children's surname and the parents' surname were spelled as FIPPIN. It is not known which spelling is correct.

pp. 116-117 - J. A. FLIPPIN was one of the five children born to G. W. FLIPPIN and wife. He was born in Smith Co., TN on 21 Jan 1869 and married Miss Sallie H. SQUIRES at Brush Creek, TN in 1889. They had three sons: John Vernon, Robert Henry and Ira Lewis. Th family moved to Quanah, TX then later went to Lawton, OK. They returned to Quanah where Mr. Flippin farmed near Groesbeck Creek. They later adopted an orphaned boy, Robert Buford Gary, son of his very close friend. He died 17 Nov 1921 and Sallie on 21 Mar 1921. Ira L. FLIPPIN married Mae W. WAFER on 10 Dec 1916 in Quanah and they had one son, Paul C.
